Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 24, 2025

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how Spill / AskSpill (the Service), operated by an individual as a proof-of-concept, collects and uses personal information. The operator is not yet a registered corporation or LLC. Contact: support@askspill.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information: When you create an account we may collect your email address, display name, and profile photo. You may sign in with Google, email and password, or other methods we offer.

User-generated content: We store messages you send and receive, including any optional donations or boosts associated with messages.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card or bank numbers. Stripe collects payment data needed for transactions; we may receive amounts, status, and related metadata.

Device and technical data: We may collect push notification tokens, basic device or app diagnostics, and data needed for security and fraud prevention.

Photos: If you upload a profile photo, we store it (e.g., in cloud storage) to display on your profile.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Process payments and payouts through Stripe and related services
  • Send transactional and (where enabled) promotional notifications
  • Display profiles and messages as part of the product
  • Enforce our Terms, Community Guidelines, and legal obligations
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and security issues

4. Service providers (subprocessors)

We use third-party services that process data on our behalf, including for example: Google (authentication, Firebase, cloud infrastructure), Stripe (payments and Connect payouts), Vercel or similar hosting for the website, and Firebase / Google Cloud (database, storage, functions). Their privacy policies and terms apply to their processing. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Sharing

We share information only as needed to run the Service: for example, messages between senders and recipients, payment data with Stripe, and public profile fields on your Spill page. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or asset transfer (with notice where required).

6. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you use the Service from other countries, your information may be transferred to the U.S. and other jurisdictions where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than yours.

7. Retention

We retain information as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account where the product allows; some data may be retained in backups or as required by law or Stripe records.

8. Your choices and rights

You may:

  • Access or update certain information in the app or on the website
  • Delete your account where available in product settings
  • Opt out of push notifications in device or app settings
  • Contact us about access, correction, or deletion requests at support@askspill.com

Depending on where you live (e.g., California, EU, UK, India), you may have additional rights under local law. We will respond consistent with applicable law.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe we have collected such data.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time by posting the new version on this page and changing the "Last updated" date.
